National Eviction Team strike at Huntington Lane Surface Mine Telford.

Breaking News

Through meticulous planning and preparation the NET were able to remove protestors from 12 Tree houses, 3 floating platforms, and three tunnels within hours of turning up on site. The NET had planned that the best time to take the 18 month encampment was to turn up on the morning of the V festival which was held at Weston Park Shropshire. As thought - the camp numbers had been greatly reduced by the protestors attending the festival.

When the NET turned up on Friday morning of August the 18th there were only 6 Protestors left on site - who all left peacefully and with no resistance. The site was within 30 minutes of the team arriving devoid of any protestors. Alun Morgan of the NET said “with the complexities of the Tunnel network and Lock Ons prepared, it looked like the NET would have taken at least three and a half weeks to have a vacant site, had the seasoned protestors been here. Ben Hartley a seasoned campaigner and the Chief Orchestrator of the Huntington Lane site had previously stated that the “tunnels had gone into ancient monuments or Bell Pits and that the NET would be evicting for months”. The Tunnel team upon inspection found no such evidence of this claim whatsoever.

We are proud of our safety track record that has now spanned over a -16 year period.
